This project involved the demolition of the high-profile industrial building located in the heart of the Ahuriri bar and restaurant hub. One of the major challenges we overcame on this project was the vicinity of the neighboring restaurants and businesses placed along the waterfront. With the main structure being over 3 stories in height and built directly on the road/waterfront we had very little room for movement and error.

Our team managed public safety, demolition dust and noise issues related with work while working in closely with the public and business owners on ensuring we caused as little disruption as possible during the demolition program.

To manage the disruption to surrounding businesses and eliminate the risk to the environment, we used the existing external structure to provide a barrier to both noise and dust and to eliminate any falling debris to retain pedestrian and public safety. Once the internal structure had been demolished and carted off site, we strategically lowered sections of the external wall leaving only foundation work to remain. The site was left completely clear, well inside the short timeframe and ready for the redevelopment of an exciting new project.
