West Quay, Ahuriri
This project required the demolition of the high-profile industrial building at the center of the Ahuriri bar and restaurant hub. Overcoming a key challenge in this project was dealing with the nearby restaurants and businesses located along the waterfront. The building, towering over 3 stories and built on the road/waterfront, gave us little space to move and make mistakes.
Our team effectively handled public safety, demolition dust, and noise concerns associated with our work. We worked closely with the public and business owners to minimize any disruptions caused by the demolition program.
By leveraging the existing external structure, we were able to address multiple concerns simultaneously. Not only did this help in minimizing the impact on surrounding businesses, but it also played a crucial role in safeguarding the environment. The barrier created served as a protective measure against noise, dust, and falling debris, ensuring the safety of pedestrians and the public. After the demolition of the internal structure and its removal from the site, we carefully lowered specific sections of the external wall. This strategic approach left only the foundation work intact, streamlining the construction process. The area was thoroughly cleared, within the specified time frame, and prepared for the construction of an exciting new project.
